Haiku poetry day 2017 follow-up
Yesterday evening I spent an enjoyable couple hours at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed in the company of enthusiastic haiku poets. The sunset was really spectacular . . .
. . . and the activity in a pond full of cattails was something worth seeing (and hearing!). Spring peepers and green frogs exercised their vocal c(h)ords while redwing blackbirds called and downy woodpeckers drilled for their dinner. :- )
Of the dozen haiku I wrote, here are three that I’d especially like to share:
just long enough . . .
puff of fluff —
landing on a cattail
the redwing blackbird
fading light . . .
spring leaves growing
And so ended International Haiku Poetry Day for me! :- )
